Advocate for the conservation of our nature.
As we all know by now, climate change has been an issue that is being dealt throughout the world. It negatively impacted the lives of many due to its effects on our environment and our government passed and declared that November 19 to 25 would be the annual week of celebrating the “Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week”. This was declared back in 2008 and signed by then-president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (Proclamation No. 1667, s. 2008).
The theme of this year's celebration is "Adapting for a Sustainable Future". The major events and activities that will be conducted throughout the week are:
- 3rd National Convention on Climate Change Adaptation (November 19-20)
- Making Climate Finance Count: Increasing Flows for Adaptation (November 19)
- 2nd Annual National Business Climate Action Summit (November 21)
- The Asia-Pacific Regional Workshop on Mainstreaming Gender Equality into Agriculture and Energy (November 22-23)
- Philippine Interfaith Summit on Climate Emergency (November 23)
- Environmental Stewardship and Climate Resilience Conference (November 25)
All of these events has its own aims and objectives but the main point of upholding this kind of event is so that we would be aware of what we are currently experiencing since the Philippines is also affected by climate change and global warming. By educating the masses, we are one step further in being conscious about our actions so that a multitude of people would try to re-evaluate their actions and try to redirect their traditional and old ways.
Be an advocate and also try to volunteer in doing activities that could also help in contributing in the conservation of our environment. Our doings were the reason why we are experincing this kinds of problems, and we are the current issue. Given that we are the cause of global warming and climate change, it is imperative to think that we should be the ones who will try to fix all of this and should be held accountable.
