We Demand Improvement

Dear President Rodrigo Duterte,

I am not going to sugarcoat any of this and I will go straight to the point. We are genuinely disappointed, angry and confused to what you plan is for us Filipinos. We want some major actions to happen. During this times we want programs that helps in lessening the cases that we have here like Mass testing but why did we receive laws and actions that cannot even contribute to lessen the rising cases of COVID 19 here in the Philippines?

You signed the Anti-Terror bill that takes away our freedom of speech that is unconstitutional according to Section 3 of the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines.

In your SONA, you particularly said that we should uphold the death penalty even though it is not that necessary and significant during this times especially we are facing a pandemic.

You wanted Manila bay to have white sand that costed  millions that should’ve been given to the less fortunate since a lot of Filipinos lost their jobs during this pandemic. Your administration said that they care for the mental health of Filipinos and that is the reason you wanted to bring crushed dolomite to Manila Bay but the money that could have been used should have been utilized in mental health care facilities instead.

You said that we don't have any money left but where did the 9 Trillion pesos you took from The World Bank go? and eventually we, the citizens and the next generation would pay for the debt that you have caused

Where are the stolen Philhealth funds? You let the people who is in power be forgiven, like Debold Sinas, Mocha Uson, and Imelda Marcos who clearly violated laws and protocols but target the innocent citizens who are falsely accused and sentenced to jail like Reina Mae Nasino.

You let and freed Joseph Scott Pemberton, a murderer who was guilty of killing an innocent woman- Jennifer Laude and showed zero remorse

You ordered the police and soldiers to "shoot to kill". Your administration also killed thousands of Filipinos who are accused of using illegal drugs and arrested activists who did nothing wrong but to speak up against the wrongdoings of the government.

You said that we should just wait for the vaccine for us to be cured but look at countries who prioritized this issue first. Look at Taiwan who has no active cases of COVID-19 anymore, they relied on the health professionals, and scientists to do the work that is needed and it paid off.

Is this the change that you promised back on your campaign? A lot of Filipinos voted for you because they believed in you and they desired the change that you promised. Walk the Talk Mr. President, a lot of people are dying, a huge number of frontliners are tired. We are sick of staying at home waiting for nothing.

Do something Mr. President. I know and understand that it may be a hard task to be a president but here's my suggestion: If you can't do your job properly and you feel tired serving the nation and the people then step down from your position and rest, and let the Vice President lead. She has shown the potential and ability to lead us during this pandemic.

We want improvement, a better and more competent government, and a solution for all of this.

A citizen who is deeply disappointed and worried about our futures,

                                                                         Bartolome, Robellro T.

  8. I disagree with this article because you only point out the mistakes made by the President and avoid the good he has done. How can the pandemic be blamed on the president? he enforced lockdowns and tried his best to stop the pandemic from spreading but because of disobedient citizens it started to get out of control. The president never downplayed the severity of the virus like what Donald Trump did. I am disappointed by the one-sided article.

I respect your letter and every single word that you said but how about those good things that our president did for us? But still this is a strong letter that shows that you are very aware of what's happening around you. That's all and God bless!!!

Despite the wrong doings of the president we still need to respect him and continue trusting him. Look also for the good things he did for the country not only the bad things. Great letter by the way.
